Day 16: Chinatown, international beer and a full moon over Chợ Bến Thành

Bussed out to District 6 for the chinatown market. It was... alright. I think its meant more for locals, as there were mostly wholesalers set up there. It was definitely nice understanding people as they spoke to each other in Cantonese.

Lunch at the market:

Lunch was in the market... pretty sketchy but we weren't bothered. Vermicelli with charbroiled pork and spring rolls, 25000VND... about $1.25! Extra spring rolls and salad rolls were 5000VND each (25 cents).

Apparently not much happened after lunch, because these next pictures are of dinner at Tokyo Deli sushi restaurant!

Japanese beer in Vietnam that was bottled in Ontario and imported by a company located in the United States

Grilled pork
Tamago (sweetened omelette) and Salmon belly sushi

Takoyaki!
Spicy California roll

The sushi was definitely a nice (albeit a pricy) change from the meat/rice we've been eating everyday for lunch and dinner. The sushi was quite good and tasted fresh. We weren't worried about eating raw food... the menu assured us that the fish was obtained from a safe source (haha). Plus we haven't fallen ill...

With full bellies, we head through D1 to jump on our bus home

  3. Whoever this admin fellow is, he's a great big phoney!

The danish thing is pork something or another... Neither Jackie and I can really remember much about them, so they couldn't have been that great.
