Only 2 short days in Da Nang. Start off our last day with a Vietnamese breakfast
| Bun rieu cua - Crab paste noodle soup |
| xoa xoa - jello, tapioca, mung bean paste, coconut milk & syrup |
| Banh bao before hitting China Beach |
China beach is a white sand beach that stretches 30km along the South China Sea.
Lunch time back in the city
After lunch, we decided to head down to the boardwalk again to see it during the daytime
| Doing afternoon exercise along the river |
| Horns of the beast!! |
| mot hai ba bon... |
| Exercising with the elders |
| That oh so familiar font and smock |
| @ the Vinatex Mart where prices are always rolling back |
Funky food court, where your cash is no good. All the food dispensaries only accept money through a card system that is only good for the food court. Needless to say, Jackie kept the card as a souvenir.
| Some jelly ice drink and pennywort leaf drink |
| Flan to use up the remaining balance on the card |
Supper before heading back to HCMC. Da Nang's specialty dish: com ga, literally rice chicken. Chicken was moist, rice was good. Delicious!
The Da Nang airport was a treat. I don't know if I can believe it was once the busiest airport in Vietnam, as it is essential a small building, where you half a check in counter, with a security gate behind it, and behind that a waiting area for a grand total of 2 gates.
| Sitting at the gate, looking back at the security check |
| Speaking of security (or lack thereof), I forgot I had this half full bottle of water in my backpack. Pretty sure this is slightly larger than 100mL |
| Shuttle that takes you from the building directly to your plane |
| Boarding from the outside! This was kinda cool |
actually...
ReplyDeletecarrying liquid and gels on hand luggage is only tightly restricted in the eu, canada, and the united states.
The guy in front of me got guff from the security agent for having a half empty bottle of cream in his backpack. He was arguing that it was less than 100mL left in it, and the security dude said it matters not.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there was signage as you go through saying bottles of liquid > 100mL was prohibited
Chicken rice is also very popular in KL, did you guys have any there?
ReplyDeleteyou've never boarded a plane from outside???
ReplyDeletejason you're so sexy
ReplyDeleteAccording to my dad, Da Nang is famous for their Mi Quang dish. Did you guys try any? Henry loves when my mom makes it.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and have lots of fun!
Yvonne
If you mean nasi lemak, we did have it! It was different chicken and different rice though. Both are delicious!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have mi quang in da nang, jackie had it in saigon though
