Wednesday Evening consisted of district 1 (HCMC's main urban district) exploration, food and drinks:
Enjoying ca phe sua da at Trung Nguyen... the "Starbucks" of HCMC Since then, we have found street coffee for 1/5 the price. Rip off! :( |
District 1, the "inner city" area.. also where all the tourists are located
Frozen Yogurt in District 1
Yum.. $1 mango smoothies..
And cheap, cheap beers!
Late night munchies..
On Thursday, Jason and I went into district 1 on our own to purchase our bus tickets for Nha Trang for the weekend. We thought we knew where we were headed... here's a map to illustrate our trek:
After being dropped off at the end of the bus line at point A, we headed down the street along the park side, thinking that we were following the same path as Wednesday night..... wrong. We kept walking... and walking... things aren't looking familiar anymore. So we pull out the map (point B). Despite having the guidance of a map at hand, we continued to head in the wrong direction... and found another park. Through the park.. more streets.. more turns... same park again... we eventually found our way to our destination (point C). It was only an hour and some detour...
We better get familiar soon... can't afford to spend all our time on detours and scenic routes, ha.
Having gone to a few travel agencies, we found a lot of the places were sold out of overnight bus tickets to Nha Trang.... might be a busy weekend. We eventually settled on $24 USD round trip tickets. Can't say I'm excited to be spending 9 hours on a bus.. but they're sleeper buses, and I aim to sleep the entire way. 9 hours? Shouldn't be a challenge.

This is what happens when both of you lack a sense of direction and can't read maps!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL, so the map is useless to them is what your saying
ReplyDeletewell we used the map to get to ben thanh market, b/c we knew how to get to the travel agency from there. unfortunately, we found out after that going back to ben thanh was a little back ass wards. Live and learn
